The Power Behind your Purpose Driven Business

When it comes time to building and maintaining a business that operates off of your core values and belief systems, its really important to first define them with your personal life.

Now some of you may be thinking,

“Gee Bauer, why are you bringing one’s personal life up when discussing how it impacts their business?”

Glad you asked. You see, often times I come across entrepreneurs who may be doing well on the external but struggle with maintaining their passion during their day to day. With adequate coaching and guidance, they then find that whatever issue it is thats holding them back from getting to that next level in their business really just resides from inside of them. In other words, what bothers them externally is really just a reflection of whats going on inside of them.

If you feel this blog is speaking to your current state or you feel that you too are struggling with understanding and truly believing the why behind what you do in your business day in and day out or your finding yourself loosing that passion that you once had for your business, then this blog is for you.

Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

Think about who you were and where you were in life when you first had the idea of having the business that you now have today. What was your current financial situation? What were you doing for income at that time? What was the state of your relationships and health?

When you begin to reflect on this time of your life, you’ll notice how you were a completely different person that who you are today. Chances are, you’ll realize all the areas in your life in which you’ve grown and evolved in and see how far you’ve come. This practice alone will help put you in a position of gratitude where this momentum will help contribute to your desire outcome; to regain that passion and purpose behind your line of work.

Now that we’ve began this first stage in this process, we’ll start to dive a bit deeper on the importance of gaining more perspective. When we begin to think of the benefits of having a purpose driven business, a number of ideas come up but of those, which do you find most fulfillment in? Lets break this down by listing the top that I hear the most from now coaching a good number of high performing entrepreneurs like yourself.

Benefits Include:

1. Attracting high quality talent + clientele: When running a purpose driven business, it's important to understand the value that you’ll be bringing to the table. It's just about providing both your team members and clients with an opportunity to make an attractive income, it's much more than that. Nowadays, people want to feel appreciated, respected and treated well so they feel more inclined to work with you. Not only that, they want to make sure that they are a part of a movement (not just a business) whose core values align with theirs on a personal level. When attracting such talent and clients, any business will soon find much success as they’ll learn that it takes much more than just providing some sort of service or opportunity for a financial gain in return.

2. Higher productivity + retention from employee satisfaction rates: Employees of any industry and type of business will always want to be treated well, compensated well and have meaning behind their work. When their needs are consistently met (whether that be with their schedules, salaries and freedom), they will more likely than not stick with a business that gives them just that. To take it one step further, once that business can do a great job at maintaining great culture, then the chances of that employees feelings a stronger sense of belonging and community will only strengthen, making it that much more likely that they will maintain their employee much longer; which will in turn only attract more of just that. They will soon become dedicated to their work and contribution, as they know its going towards a greater cause in which they believe and trust in.

3. More improved innovation: You’ll start to notice that all of these benefits go hand in hand in that they help the overall image of maintaining a purpose driven business not only to the marketplace and in your industry, but most importantly inside your business as well. When you are able to attract a high performing team, you will naturally innovate and create more quality products/services for your ideal clients. This will in turn help increase the position your business will stand, in regards to setting itself apart from others within the industry.

4. Increased quality relationships/trust: As many would agree, trust can be difficult to build yet very easy to loose. So when you find that it serves as one of the core values in which your business operates from, you’ll begin to notice how much it improves the quality of the relationships you maintain both inside and outside of your business, as we byproduct. This will not only attract even more high quality talent to your doors but also the word will get around on how well both your team and clients are being taken cared of and that will generate even more business to your doors.

….just to name a few.

Ok, wanna get an inside scoop on some of the responses I hear most often when going through this exercise?

Here goes.

1. How important is it to you to have purpose lead you in your business?

a) Its very important to me to have purpose lead me in my business as I know it will help me get my business to operate at the level I know its capable of maintaining.

2. Why does it hold that much significance to you?

a) This goal is important to me because it will remind me of the deep seeded reason behind my work. This will help me bring back my passion and in turn add to purpose of my business, in terms of why it exists and what problems its trying to solve for the marketplace.

b) It will help improve my passion and desire in my business and help me improve my relationships with my team-members, clients and investors; as there is will be a mission bigger than us all to contribute to.

3. What can you do within the next few days to a week to help incorporate these practices into your day to day operations?

a) I will set aside some time for me to clearly define my business mission statement and core values. I will then hold a meeting with my team this will to share with them the mission and why our collective effort is important to adding to the bigger cause in which we’re working towards.

b) I will send our feedback questionnaires to all my team members on how I can create a more mission and core value focused business for them to thrive in.

4. How will you utilize this insight to help promote more business to your doors?

a) With the help of my marketing team members, we will create marketing material to help promote this intentional message and notify all those parties we are working with what our business is about to help create the image we want to be known for within our industry.

5. How will you maintain this desirable level of passion and desire within your business?

a) I will take into account the needs of my team members, clients and that of my own. I will do this by requesting their feedback on a monthly basis(this can be completed anonymously, if they choose). I will set aside time at the end of each month to reevaluate their responses and come up with ways on how to meet their needs. I will then share with them what I’ve come up with and ask for their thoughts so we can come up with a mutual plan of attack. I will do the same within a group setting with all my team members combines to ensure all are taken cared of and feel they are valued within my business. I will use a very similar strategy with my clients and leverage my team to help us get to that desired goal.

Until next time my friends, keep your head up and know that whatever “obstacle” that comes your way throughout your business journey, its really just a blessing in disguise.
