Importance of Self-Awareness

Let's start today’s message off with some gratitude, shall we?

Ask yourself this, what are you truly grateful for at this stage in your life?

Ready?

Ok, let’s do this.

*promise this will all tie in

So with the term self-awareness comes the need for a deeper explanation, right? Well, yes n no. You see, self-awareness can either be viewed from a place of common sense or from a more spiritual place.

Let’s explain this some more

Self-awareness is in the simplest of terms, is the awareness and understanding of oneself. This would include someone’s character and the value system they choose to live their life by, their actions, feelings, intentions, and so forth. In other words, self-awareness is when someone feels the need to better know and discover themselves.

This can also be a life-long journey, that’s of course if the person allows it to be. It does however require a specific mindset and operating system in order to go into effect. One that is mainly growth-driven and ready to take on the accountability needed.

Another note to consider before we get any further along is that the more we practice self-awareness, the more self-aware we become. So on and so forth.

Now, why is self-awareness so important for the high-performing entrepreneur that you are?

Glad you asked!

You see, self-awareness isn’t just about the understanding yourself for the sake of one’s own desires. There is much more to it than you may think.

Let’s have some fun.

.

.

.

Q: Why would someone want to practice self-awareness?

A: Where do we begin:

  • to better understand themselves

  • to better understand their core values and what they stand for

  • to better understand what brings them joy

  • to better understand what makes them tick

  • to better understand their relationships (personal/professional)

  • to better understand their reason/purpose in why they do, what they do

  • ……………(the list goes on n on)

Now that we’ve established a surface-level understanding of the key benefits of practicing self-awareness, let’s dive in a bit deeper.

Q: Why would someone want to better understand the above?

A: Great question, lets jump right in. (really we’re just discussing the benefits of these benefits)

  • To better understand themselves = we can work towards alchemizing our areas of improvement into strengths and using our existing strengths as catalysts to help guide us forward in our path.

  • Better understand their core values and what they stand for = helps an individual better know where they stand with themselves. It guides them into a healthy relationship with both themselves and others around them. Therefore with this clarity, they have a better understanding of the rules that would govern their relationships.

  • To better understand what brings them joy = when one has an idea of what truly makes them happy, then are they more than likely to act on it. This would mean they’d set aside time to do more of what makes them happy and would prioritize that.

  • To better understand what makes them tick = this would help an individual have a more grip on their trigger points. This of course stems from their childhood and will eventually seep into their adulthood. Now this will definitely come with the need for that individual to desire growth and become a more calm, conscious, and stable version of themselves. That way when they better understand why certain things trigger anger, upset, and negative emotions, that is when they will choose to find an alternative to expressing their feelings, thoughts, and actions towards the people and events that take place in their lives.

  • To better understand their relationships (personal/professional) = when one can better understand themselves, they can better understand those around them. Another way to put this is when we boil this down to the main and most important relationship one has; the one with themselves. This core relationship will always serve as the foundation of any relationship from there on out. So if one struggles to respect, care for, love, and admire oneself, chances are they will struggle with the same in regard to others. The same would be the case when we apply this to the more positive side of things. If one is easily able to provide these things to themselves, then they can more easily give the same to others. It’s a simple equation that many have yet to figure out.

  • To better understand their reason/purpose in why they do, what they do = Part of the self-development journey is for an individual to figure out why they are here and why they do what they do on a day-to-day basis. Some may link this directly to their families and their deep desire to take care of them, whereas others may refer to this as their only way to feel important and or feel needed in society. So as their contribution to what they care most for, they do what they do to help do their part in making their version of the world a better place.

Ok now that we’ve dissected the surface-level understanding of this self-awareness, let’s take a deeper dive-shall we?!

.

.

.

Self-awareness can be another word for reason and purpose.

You see, when we are operating at our most ultimate and potent levels of awareness, we are more likely to find ourselves the happiest, most fulfilled, and healthiest.

Think about the last time you sat down whether it was on your living room couch or elsewhere and you for the first time in a very very long time felt happy and content with what you have in your life. Think about that for a second. Did something substantial occur in your life at that time? Yes that could’ve very possibly happened but what was most important wasn’t that event per se, it was the byproduct of it and how much freedom, joy, and growth it allowed you and those around you.

Now think about how life would be if that was how you lived on a consistent basis.

  • You got comfortable with looking within for areas of improvement to repair

  • You became addicted to alchemizing these thoughts/feelings into good ones

  • You took it one step further and shared your transformations with others; this allowed you to have more meaningful relationships=playing your conscious part

  • Others took on your path and began implementing the same changes into their own lives

Are you starting to see the deeper meaning behind all of this? Are you starting to see why, exactly why we human beings are made to transform, improve and share? It’s to INSPIRE.

Yes. Inspire.

Think about how good it would feel to know that your story or segments of it have helped SAVE someone’s life. Think about how grateful and appreciative they would feel in knowing that someone like you had the courage to share what you needed to.

——

Let’s consider this one thought for a sec. Let’s say for example you’re sitting there reading this blog and thinking to yourself,

“wait a minute, how could I possibly save someone else’s life? I’m not so sure about that.”

Ok. Let me ask you a simple question.

Of all your years being on this beautiful planet, could you think of at least 5 different life lessons you’ve learned that have saved your life (they can pertain to anything).

.

.

.

Ok, so glad we’re on the same page there. Now that we can both say you know a thing or two that CAN indeed help save someone else’s life, then let’s think about how you can spread that message already?!

——

Imagine who you were before you learned one of those valuable lessons? Now imagine how much it could’ve helped prevent you from making that “mistake?” (I put the word mistake in quotation marks being everything that we at one point felt held us back was more so an opportunity for growth).

So if we can agree that you have a few pieces of wisdom that could really help others out there, can you for just one second imagine how good it would feel to share just a glimpse of that with someone else(just for the pure sake of helping them)?

.

.

.

That’s exactly the point here. You see, the overall purpose being self-awareness is so we can find and develop the best versions of ourselves; so we can give the best of us to others=for the purpose of shedding some positivity into their lives as well.

….that right there is the real WHY behind self-awareness

….to do our part in bringing the human family together

Moral of the story:

keep doing your thing

Ya never know whose watching

Ya never know who you’re helping 😉

Until next time my friends, keep your head up and know that whatever “obstacle” comes your way throughout your business journey, it’s really just a blessing in disguise.
